All Terrorists are Muslims…Except the 99.6% that Aren’t

Posted on

Europol releases an annual study of terrorism; the results do not support claims that “(nearly) all Muslims are terrorists”

Islamophobes have been popularizing the claim that “not all Muslims are terrorists, but (nearly) all terrorists are Muslims.”  Despite this idea becoming axiomatic in some circles, it is quite simply not factual.  In my previous article entitled “All Terrorists are Muslims…Except the 94% that Aren’t”, I usedofficial FBI records to show that only 6% of terrorist attacks on U.S. soil from 1980 to 2005 were carried out by Islamic extremists.  The remaining 94% were from other groups (42% from Latinos, 24% from extreme left wing groups, 7% from extremist Jews, 5% from communists, and 16% from all other groups).

But what about across the pond?  The data gathered by Europol strengthens my argument even further. (hat tip: Koppe)  Europol publishes an annual report entitled EU Terrorism Situation and Trend Report.  On their official website, you can access the reports from 20072008, and 2009.  (If anyone can find the reports from earlier than that, please let me know so we can include those as well.)

The results are stark, and prove decisively that not all terrorists are Muslims.  In fact, a whopping 99.6% of terrorist attacks in Europe were by non-Muslim groups; a good 84.8% of attacks were from separatist groups completely unrelated to Islam.  Leftist groups accounted for over sixteen times as much terrorism as radical Islamic groups.  Only a measly 0.4% of terrorist attacks from 2007 to 2009 could be attributed to extremist Muslims.

Here are the official tables provided in the reports…

For 2006:

20063b

For 2007:

2007b

For 2008:

20081b

(According to the report, there was 1 “Islamist attack” in the UK in 2008, which was omitted in the table above.  It has been included in the bar graph below.)

Just glancing at those tables is enough to know how absurd it is to claim that “all terrorists are Muslims.”  That statement is nowhere near the truth.  If we compile the data, it comes out to this:

barchart-copy

On p.7, the 2009 Europol report concludes:

Islamist terrorism is still perceived as being the biggest threat worldwide, despite the fact that the EU only faced one Islamist terrorist attack in 2008.  This bomb attack took place in the UK…Separatist terrorism remains the terrorism area which affects the EU most. This includes Basque separatist terrorism in Spain and France, and Corsican terrorism in France…Past contacts between ETA and the FARC illustrate the fact that also separatist terrorist organizations seek cooperation partners outside the EU on the basis of common interests.  In the UK, dissident Irish republican groups, principally the RIRA and the CIRA, and other paramilitary groups may continue to engage in crime and violence.

Perception is not reality.  Due to the right wing’s influence and propaganda, people mistakenly think that Islamic terrorism is the greatest threat to the Western world.  It is even a commonly held belief that Islamic terrorism poses an existential threat–that the very survival of the Western world is at stake.  Of course, the reality is that there are other groups that engage in terrorism on a much larger scale, yet these terrorist incidents are minimized.  Acts of terrorism committed by Muslims are purposefully sensationalized and focused upon, culminating in the idea that “(nearly) all terrorists are Muslims.”

Terrorism from Islamic extremists is certainly a cause for concern, but it need not be an issue that creates mass hysteria.  Nor should it be allowed to be such a critical issue that we are willing to sacrifice our ideals or civil rights for fear of it.  Neither should we be reduced to a status of absolute sissitude.  We have analyzed data from America and Europe (a good portion of the entire Western world), and the threat from Islamic terrorism is much more minimal than commonly assumed; in the U.S., it accounts for 6% of terrorist attacks, and in Europe not even half of a percent.

It is only through sensationalism and fear mongering that the topic of Islamic terrorism is allowed to be used to demonize a religious community that happens to be a minority in the West.  When confronted by such lunacy, we ought to respond with the facts and the truth.

In a future article, we shall analyze the data for terrorism on the world stage in order to further strengthen our argument…

Lowkey – Terrorist? (Lyrics)

Posted on

[Intro]

So, We must ask ourselves, What is the dictionary definition of “Terrorism”?

The systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion

But what is terror?

According to the dictionary I hold in my hand, Terror, is violent or destructive acts

Such as bombing committed by groups in order to intimidate a population, Or government into granting their demands

So whats a terrorist?

[Hook]

They’re calling me a terrorist Like they don’t know who the terror is When they put it on me, I tell them this I’m all about peace and love They calling me a terrorist Like they don’t know who the terror is Insulting my intelligence Oh how these people judge..

[Verse 1]

It seems like the Rag-heads and Paki’s are worrying your Dad But your dad’s favorite food is curry and kebab It’s funny, but it’s sad how they make your mummy hurry with her bags Rather read The Sun than study all the facts Tell me, what’s the bigger threat to human society BAE Systems or home made IED’s Remote controlled drones, killing off human lives Or man with home made bomb committing suicide I know you were terrified when you saw the towers fall It’s all terror but some forms are more powerful It seems nuts, how could there be such agony When more Israeli’s die from peanut allergies It’s like the definition didn’t ever exist I guess it’s all just depending who your nemesis is Irrelevant how eloquent the rhetoric peddler is They’re telling fibs, now tell us who the real terrorist is

[Hook]

They’re calling me a terrorist Like they don’t know who the terror is When they put it on me, I tell them this I’m all about peace and love They calling me a terrorist Like they don’t know who the terror is Insulting my intelligence Oh how these people judge..

[Verse 2]

Lumumba was democracy – Mossadegh was democracy Allende was democracy – Hypocrisy it bothers me Call you terrorists if you don’t wanna be a colony We used to bow down to a policy of robbery Is terrorism my lyrics? When more Vietnam vets kill themselves after the war than died in it? This is very basic.. One nation in the world has over a thousand military bases They say it’s religion, when clearly it isn’t It’s not just Muslims that oppose your imperialism Is Hugo Chavez a Muslim? Nah.. I didn’t think so Is Castro a Muslim? Nah.. I didn’t think so It’s like the definition didn’t ever exist I guess it’s all just depending who your nemesis is Irrelevant how eloquent the rhetoric peddler is They’re telling fibs, now tell us who the terrorist is

[Hook]

They’re calling me a terrorist Like they don’t know who the terror is When they put it on me, I tell them this I’m all about peace and love They calling me a terrorist Like they don’t know who the terror is Insulting my intelligence Oh how these people judge..

[Outro x2]

You think that I don’t know, But I know, I know, I know You think that we don’t know But we know

You think that I don’t know, But I know, I know, I know You think that we don’t know But we DO

Zionists have MURDERED at least 225 innocent people in Gaza

American F-16's used by Zionists wreak havoc in Gaza

Israel decides to bombard the Gaza Strip with the help of its American supplied F-16 bombers. At least 225 innocent people were murdered by the Zionists occupiers, mostly if not all were policemen, women and children. Over 700 are also reported to be injured by the air strikes.

Israeli PM Ehud Olmert has said that the operation “may take some time” and “It’s not going to last a few days,”. Mr Olmert continued to argue that “You – the citizens of Gaza – are not our enemies. Hamas, Jihad and the other terrorist organisations are your enemies, as they are our enemies…”They have brought disaster on you and they try to bring disaster to the people of Israel. And it is our common goal to make every possible effort to stop them.”

What ever the differences with the group of Hamas, it was and is an elected group that was chosen from its citizens. The only disaster that the people have witnessed is from the Zionist occupiers and this attack today is a testament to that aggression.

Further reports suggest that the Israelis’ actually demand a harsher response towards the Palestinian people. This sentiment in Israel has produced further support for the Beiteinu Party which takes a hard-line approach on Gaza.

Will the World condemn the attacks by the Zionsist occupiers? Will the World denounce support for Israel for murdering civilians in such a manner?

NO, the world will listen, watch and go back to sleep again whilst the aggressors continue to cause havoc in the region. The West who claims to be the beacon of justice and equality has and continues to stay silent over this and other atrocities committed by their friend Israel. Will the world condemn and boycott America for support and harboring a terrorist state?

I guess not, same as always.

It’s a sad state of affairs.

Terror scarf: Do you have one?

I accidentally came across this article, posted a few days ago on bbc.co.uk, which stated that ‘The US chain Dunkin’ Donuts has pulled an advert following complaints that the scarf worn by a celebrity chef offered symbolic support for Islamic extremism.’

The story goes something like this:

The image of the well known US television star Rachael Ray was wearing a black-and-white checked scarf around her neck that resembled a traditional Arab Keffiyeh. This irritated a prominent conservative blogger called Ms Michelle Malkin who said the scarf was “a regular adornment of Muslim terrorists appearing in beheading and hostage-taking videos”. Due to pressure from other individuals Dunkin Donuts decided to drop the advert. However Dunkin’ Donuts has officially and on record, declared that “the silk scarf had been “selected by Rachael Ray’s stylist and that no symbolism was intended.”

Ms Malkin goes on to argue that “Fashion statements may seem insignificant, but when they lead to the mainstreaming of violence – unintentionally or not – they matter,”

My thoughts:

Firstly the scarf that Rachael Ray is wearing is in paisley. The one that is popular in the Arab world is known as the keffiyeh, which resembles an interlocking net or a chain-link fence made normally from cotton.

Secondly since when did wearing a ‘black-and-white checked scarf’ become an offence? or an automatic political statement? I can appreciate that some people wear the Arab keffiyeh to make a political statement as it has recently been linked with the Palestinian cause but to argue that a silk garment which vaguely resembles a keffiyeh is a criminal offence is absurd.

Thirdly have we not seen the American army or is it the collation of the willing, wear similar scarfs? Is Ms Malkin going to assume that they have switched sides?By Ms Malkins rational maybe we should ban the American army using similar firearms as those ‘black-and-white checked scarf’ wearing people because that would be supporting the other side.

Lets be honest here; A ‘black-and-white checked scarf’ is only a ‘black-and-white checked scarf.’ Those who wish to make a political statement by wearing it are making a legitimate political statement and that is to argue against the illegal occupation of Palestinian land by the Zionists.
