The United States and other Capitalist nations have a policy of self-interest but are sugar coated with sweet words to appease the public opinion.
With regards to Egypt, the United States has been pouring $1.5 billion each year for military aid and similar amount for economic aid. That amounts to almost $60 billion over the past 3 decades. The United States has been fully aware of imprisonment and torture of all political, religious voices in Egypt and the corruption at a systemic level. She supported Mubarak till his last days, she then supported the SCAF, and then Morsi and his Islamist government. Now it is the turn of Sisi and the old regime with a new face to receive support from the States.
The US has now agreed to continue to release the military aid to Egypt which was frozen over the past years or so due to the uncertainty. In other words the US will be paying the Egyptians to ensure their interests will be fulfilled in the region and Egypt can continue to be its lacky.
Although strict conditions have been put in place that go with the aid, however ‘The conditions include free and fair elections and the right to free assembly. However, Congress also passed a waiver that allows the secretary of state to sidestep the conditions if necessary for national security.’
If only all journalists were this honest and objective and if only all politicians were honest and objective.
IS THIS FREE SPEECH? SUBSTITUTE the word Muslims with Blacks, Irish, Jews or Hindus and then see if this sign is really funny:
Recently realsed papers illustrated how the Britain secretly backed the ‘Freedom Fighters’ now relabelled ‘Terrorists’ in Afghanistan. In other words we created this mess and now the whole world has to pay the price and work on solving it. Just like Britain caused the problem of Palestine and Kashmir.
Surely people should have learnt not to meddle with other peoples internal affairs, especially when previous experiments have caused hundreds of thousands of lives to date.
Technically the UK and USA are responsible for all the attacks committed or alleged by Al-Qaeda, as they fed, cultured and created ‘Al-Qaeda’.
Here are some quotes from the report:
“So long as they remained in forward positions, they would need some defensive equipment, possibly including surface to air missiles to defend themselves against air attack.”
It was said at the meeting: “If one of the objectives of the West in this crisis was to keep the Islamic world aroused about the Soviet invasion, that would be served by encouraging a continuing guerrilla resistance.”
Sir Robert said although a border war should be avoided, “so long as Afghans were ready to continue guerrilla resistance, and Pakistan was prepared at least to acquiesce in Pakistani territory being a base for such activity, the West could hardly refuse to provide support, where it could do so with suitable discretion”.
The Germans were legally unable to supply arms, but the US, UK and France agreed to help the Mujahideen.
Soon afterwards Dr Brzezinski visited Pakistan and wrote to the Cabinet Office: “I was impressed by the determination of the Pakistanis, and also with the Afghan resistance fighters – the Mujahidin – whom I encountered during my visit to a refugee camp on the frontier.
“I am convinced we have something solid to work with in frustrating Soviet ambitions toward the south.”
“We trust the Western leaders are prepared for the enormous beneficial possibilities that could just possibly open up if the Afghan rebellion were to succeed.”

It is reported that at least 21 people were killed and over 70 were injured in a bomb blast which happened during a New Year’s Eve Mass at the al-Qiddissin Church in Alexandria, Egypt.
Egyptian President Mubarak said it was the work of “foreign hands”.
US President Barack Obama condemned “this barbaric and heinous act” and said those behind it had to be brought to justice. “The perpetrators of this attack were clearly targeting Christian worshippers, and have no respect for human life and dignity,” he also said. “We are continuing to gather information regarding this terrible event, and are prepared to offer any necessary assistance to the government of Egypt in responding to it,”.
Well anyone who has lived in the Middle East and in particular Egypt, they would know that the Christians, Jews and Muslims have a long history of safety and harmony. This is why you still find jews in Iraq, Syria, Iran and Egypt. This is why 10% of Jordans population is Christian and almost 50% of Lebanese population is Christian and 10% of Egyptian population is Christian.
In the example of Egypt they amount to over 10 million people. Such a large minority will always be an assest for anyone to interfere with and destabilise Egypt for it’s own purpose. No one is sure who is really behind this attack but it can be certain that it is ‘foreign hands’.
However if I was an Egyptian I would be alarmed by the immediate help of the USA without even proper investigation who was behind these attacks; which only leads me to believe that America has an invested interest in Egypt in fighting it’s war around the world and is looking for further it’s support from regional mights as it did with Pakistan.
U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton condemning the ruling of the second conviction of jailed oil and gas tycoon Mikhail Khodokovsky, saying that it raised “serious questions about selective prosecution and about the rule of law being overshadowed by political considerations.”
Mr Khodorkovsky is a billionaire who posed a challenge to Vladimir Putin during his presidency. So in many ways this conviction seen as personal.
Russia’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday fired back at U.S. and European criticism, telling Western leaders to mind their own business.
How sweet is it to see the US and other Western nations expressing their concern and outrage over this trial on Russian Soil. YET the silence which is almost deafening over the Guantanamo detainees facing their 10th year with charge or trail.
Well done! for yet another double standard foreign policy and the world cowering to the bullies.
